The 3rd party product engineer we are looking for will have experience in MHE (mechanical handling equipment), conveyors, cranes, waste handling etc. You will need to have had exposure to the technical side of tenders, you need to be commercially aware, had exposure to FDS (Functional Design Specifications) and have experience in integration engineering. They also need to have had experience dealing with 3rd party suppliers/external vendors preferably on a global basis.

 The 3rd Party Product Engineer will be involved in building new Automated Distribution Centres around the world. Maintaining in depth engineering product knowledge and directly supporting other teams during the design, manufacture and install phases of new Customer Fulfilment Centres. Providing ongoing product support to Engineering Maintenance Operations to resolve any engineering issues as well as providing valuable feedback to the development engineering team for future developments.

Role & Responsibilities

The 3rd Part Product Engineer will be specifically be responsible for the COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) products that we obtain from 3rd party suppliers rather than the products that are developed in-house.

Supporting Automation Engineering Implementation with installation expertise.

Identifying and managing the resolution of engineering change requests and product improvements.

Reviewing, maintaining and communicating related product technical documentation.

Providing engineering product support, especially during design, installation & commissioning phases.

Proactively supporting engineering supply chain with engineering detail, including acceptance testing, and order specification.

Working closely with 3rd party suppliers to receive products and ensure successful handover of product to Central Automation Engineering team.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE)
  • Experience working with global external vendors/3rd party suppliers including involvement in technical tenders
  • Experience in the Field Installation of products and / or systems
  • Experience of Acceptance Testing
  • IT literate, proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite and comfortable using CAD packages
  • Aptitude to debate detail (both technical and commercial) with both internal and external parties
  • Commercially aware and consider cost impacts on decisions and proposals
  • A Technical / Engineering qualification to degree level in a relevant field.
  •  Understanding of applicable directives, codes standards etc (eg machinery directive)
  • Technical / Engineering qualification, to degree level in a relevant field Business Competencies

The role is shift based to support the 24/7 operation of the CFC Engineering Team Manager - Dordon
