Vacancy Description

Project Engineer with engineering projects experience to work on multiple CapEx projects within the group, developing automation solutions for new and existing State of the Art Distribution Centres / Customer Fulfilment Centres ( CFC’s ). You will take engineering ownership and be responsible for the design and development of various project solutions in collaboration with wider engineering and development teams.

You will be responsible for producing and reviewing various technical documentation including, but not limited to, URS, design calculations, progress reports, manuals, BoM’s, install guides, FAT, PDI & SAT checklists.

You will be responsible for managing suppliers, preparing your solutions for rolling out in new and existing live CFC’s, including compliance and certification, and providing ongoing support to Engineering Operations to resolve any engineering issues as well as documenting feedback for future developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for each project through all key stages including concept verification and validation, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Manage multiple projects in parallel.
  • Carry out the configuration and application engineering detail to TDI, CFC Projects and MSC teams in conjunction with the Project Leaders & planners.
  • Create and supervise the creation of detailed CAD models and engineering drawings and data to international standards.
  • Support Automation Engineering Implementation with installation expertise, ensuring best practice is followed and understood and product engineering challenges are resolved.
  • Review, maintain and communicate related technical documentation.
  • Travel to worldwide sites and manufacturing partner sites as needed.
  • Proactively support engineering supply chain with engineering detail, including acceptance testing, and order specification.
  • Work to and follow all CDM guidance, both external (CDM Regulations 2015 and associated Guidance L153) and internal (in house CDM15 procedures and processes, HS&E policy and associated Arrangement Policies). To seek guidance from the HS&E team where there is uncertainty.
  • Ensure product and process quality is maintained.
  • Ensure system integrity by collaborating with product engineers from other streams to ensure that any changes or issues in one area do not negatively impact another product or overall system.

Requirements / skills and qualifications

  • Project Engineering - demonstrable experience & success in delivering projects on time and within approved budgets.
  • Working knowledge of a range of project management skills, tools and approaches.
  • Experience in managing project budgets and applying the appropriate analysis tools in order to make decisions and manage variations from the specification, consult stakeholders as appropriate and gain resolution.
  • Excellent technical and practical competence relating to automation and general engineering.
  • Experience of projects and products in manufacturing, automotive, airports, FMCG distribution or similar field.
  • Familiar with a fast paced environment.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Business acumen.
  • Aptitude to debate details (both technical and commercial) with both internal and external parties.
  • Field Installation of products and / or systems and acceptance testing.
  • IT literate, proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite and comfortable using CAD packages.
  • Must have very good negotiation skills with the ability to listen, comprehend, consider and assimilate others points of view with their own beliefs and visions.
  • Experience in vendor selection and long term engagement for the delivery of services and products.
  • Appreciation of applicable directives, codes standards etc (eg machinery directive)
  • Technical / Engineering qualification to degree level in a relevant field including, but not limited to,
    • Mechanical structures
    • Plastics moulding
    • Functional safety
    • Conveyor systems
    • Electromechanical systems
    • Robotics

Preferred (but not essential):

  • A project management qualification (APM PMQ or PRINCE2)
  • Remote Product Support
  • International working experience

Experience in working under CDM Regulations
