Automation Global Engineering Project / Transformation Manager

My client is undergoing significant change over the foreseeable future with rapid team growth, associated restructuring and process development to support both UK expansion and the multiple International deals requiring the implementation of + 30  Customer Fulfilment Centre’s (CFC) /  fully automated distribution centres delivered within 5 years. The majority of these projects are outside the UK.

Automation Engineering has the following areas of focus in meeting that need:

  • Globalisation of Supply Chain to serve all markets
  • Scaling of manufacturing supply chain and commercial approach, partnerships and strategic agreements
  • Approach to international delivery, determination of balance between insource and outsource within all aspects of delivery
  • Identification of core competencies to own in house, and establishing outsource routes to scale non-core activities
  • Growth of internal and external teams across multiple geographies and requirement for review of appropriate process, control and governance to support that capacity and capability growth
  • An evolving range of specific and detailed work streams to find rapid and lasting solutions to a broad range of opportunities

The role, as a senior leader reporting to the Head of Automation Engineering, has been created to work alongside the existing management team, across the above fields to create management capacity for strategic thinking and change implementation. Leading or supporting the 'special projects' to drive growth

In close collaboration with the existing management team, the successful candidate is expected to provide significant additional strategic and change implementation leadership across and beyond the above fields.

So what would we like to see?

The ideal candidate should be able to draw experience from a proven track record in Engineering delivery, in a demanding Cost, Quality, Time project/portfolio environment, and demonstrate the following behavioural and competency capabilities:

  • Strategic thinking in finding and implementing solutions for complicated and complex problems in a time critical environment
  • Leadership through change implementation programmes at both a technical level and organisational change. Experience of change programmes delivered will be sought.
  • Proven record in delivering process development and process efficiency, especially through periods of organisational growth
  • Practical applications of their degree level engineering qualification and clear evidence of management and leadership competency within that discipline
  • Facilitation of diverse groups of key individuals to drive new thinking, achieve consensus and deliver momentum
  • Ability to represent confidently the Head of Automation Engineering when required

In addition the following would be beneficial and will be considered in the application.

  • International delivery experience
  • Experience of high growth environments; working through Transformation Projects with high degrees of change
  • Creation and establishment of new business units / plants / facilities etc
  • New product introduction capability, focused on Product Launch and Support
