Gas Engineer - Reading

Minstrell Recruitment currently requires an experienced Gas Engineer for a position available in the Reading area

Responsible for:

  • Working within company procedures and Gas Safe Regulations
  • Client objectives / KPIs
  • Highest standards of customer care

Job Purpose

To service, repair, maintain and install gas appliances in accordance with manufacturers instruction and guidance, and current regulations.

Location: Reading area - Social Houses (800-900 Properties in this area)

Key Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and have ACS qualifications as minimum CCN1, CEN1, HTR1, WAT1, CKR1

Technical Knowledge:

  • Has good knowledge of all domestic gas appliances
  • Is fully proficient in:
  • Service, installation and repair of various appliances
  • Electrical controls and circuits
  • ·Fault finding on conventional appliances

Customer Care:

  • Excellent face to face communication to ensure customer delight (minimal complaints)
  • Be extremely customer focussed with emphasis on service delivery
  • Promote the correct image to the customer
  • Effectively communicate with customers to explain technical terms and the correct operation of gas appliances

Negotiating:

  • Ability to influence customers
  • Balances customer need with ability to deliver
  • Strives for win-win
  • Deals effectively with conflict

Commercial / Contract Knowledge:

  • Understand the implication of own actions on the financial performance of the contract
  • Understands to a competent level what the contract allows you to do/not to do

Health & Safety:

  • Understands current H&S legislation and its impact on daily activity
  • Ensures company H&S policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Understands and manages health and safety as a lone worker

Quality:

  • Support team in managing all practices in order that they conform to quality requirements of ISO 9001
  • Carryout risk assessments and safe systems of work to legal and approved codes of practice

Performance:

  • Goes beyond what is expected to get results
  • Demonstrates an awareness of cost control and commitment to maximising financial performance
  • Keeps focused on achieving results
  • Creates an environment which values high performance levels
  • Monitors and reports on all trade-contractors works/H&S issues

  • Controls/Co-ordinates works with trade-contractors

Analytical Skills:

  • Technical problem solving of domestic gas installations
  • Thinks beyond immediate situation
  • Uses initiative when faced with problems

  • Demonstrates the highest ethical standards when dealing with customers, suppliers and employees
  • Does not commit to promises he/she cannot meet
  • To systematically identify and deliver continuous improvement / cost savings

Any other duties commensurate with the post.

This role is a Temp to Perm role, after 12 weeks the candidate will be offered a full time role with the company, where a van & company benefits will be provided.
