Minstrell Recruitment currently requires an experienced Senior Production Engineer for a position available in the Hertfordshire area

Vacancy description

As the Senior Production Engineer you will be working with the latest automated engineering systems with the online retail sector within the research and development team. Once an engineering product is stable and introduced to the product catalogue it will require ongoing support and improvement. From the point of handover until the end of life for the product the Production Engineering Team will resolve engineering issues on the product. This will span across the full suite of products including grid, robots, peripherals, maintenance areas. A rapid response is required to resolve production issues in a timescale appropriate to limit site production impact. 

The senior production engineer works in conjunction with the Product Development Management Team, Product development Design Team and the Product development Product Group Leaders.

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • When an issue on site is encountered the Production Continuous Improvement team will create a pareto of highest impact issues, if the issue is a product design issue it will be the Production Engineering Team’s responsibility to deliver an appropriate containment of the issue and deliver a proven tested solution for rollout by the Central Engineering Team.
  • This responsibility includes change try out and providing evidence to support the case for solution roll out. This will include negotiating resource on the most appropriate site for testing and try out.
  • The Production Engineering Team ensure design continuity with the design owner this will be achieved through the use of ring fenced design resource from the Design Team for design works.
  • The Production Engineering team will influence future designs through the feedback of production lessons learnt from site to ensure known design issues do not reappear on future designs and known fixes are carried over to future products.
  • The Production Engineering Team work closely with the Safety and Compliance Team to ensure continued safety compliance with any proposed changes to the products.
  • The Production Engineering Team will be responsible for running a CMO process and adopting structured tools for tracking, reporting and closing issues.
  • The Production Engineering Team will agree KPI’s with the business for response rate, communication of progress, containment of issues against, closure of issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with:

  • An engineering/ science qualification, to HND or Degree level.
  • Proven track record of successfully resolving production issues
  • Strong problem solving skills , six sigma qualification
  • Strong data capture and analysis skills and use of appropriate software tools
  • Engineering skills to resolve  Mechanical , electrical or electronics issues working in conjunction with our Mechanical , electrical or electronics engineers as needed
  • Engineering skills to resolve  manufacturing or reliability issues working in conjunction with the manufacturing or reliability engineers as needed
  • Experience and ability to manage internal design and engineering resource as well as external suppliers to deliver solutions to agreed timelines
  • Ability to communicate progress in a structured manner to an audience of varying technical levels
  • Ability to maintain or improve product reliability by working with reliability teams
  • Ability to negotiate with key stakeholders and clients to agree a workable work plan based on business priority , available resource and other critical dependencies
