Mechanical Estimator

Job title: Mechanical Estimator - Circa £45k

Reporting to: Estimating Manager

PURPOSE STATEMENT

To work with other Mechanical/Electrical Estimators, support personnel and supply chainto provide Tender cost submissions based on the most competitive prime cost.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Financial/Commercial

·Can successfully obtain the tender price from suppliers, wholesalers and subcontractors

·Able to visit site and interpret drawings to clarify what is required and assist in establishing the best cost effective solution

·Ensure that the build up to the Tender submission and all supporting documents are maintained in a logical and sequential manner

·Demonstrate an ability to develop options which differentiates Lorne Stewart’s Tender from the competition

People

·Able to develop and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally

·Liaise internally to determine who are most favourable companies to approach for prices and performance

Customer Satisfaction/Business Development

·Develop business relationships through networking with existing and potential clients, competitors and suppliers to understand the market, competition and opportunities

·Liaise internally and externally as required

·Participates in handover of successful bids to delivery team

TECHNICAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

·Able to measure quantities from drawings

·Undertake technical appraisals

·Good understanding of tender process and systems

·Demonstrable ability to analyse drawings, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare time, product, cost and labour estimates

·Ability to present information in a coherent and appropriate manner to senior managers

·Qualified to HNC/ONC in an Engineering discipline or appropriate relevant experience

·IT competent
