Plant Transport Manager - Manchester

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plant/Fleet Transport Manager to work for our client on a permanent basis. Our client is a reputable national construction plant provider. This position will be based in Manchester.

We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record in this field who primarily has had prior supervisory experience in fleet management preferably in logistics and or the construction industry. 

Main duties will invovle :

Managing 25 - 30 Drivers

Overseeing day to day duties of low loader drivers and their drop offs as well as 8 wheel tipper wagon drivers and their drop offs on site. May also be involved with construction plant machinery and it's management.

Overseeing all logistics planning to ensure maximum fleet utilisation and optimim levels of service are maintained to our clients clients.

Ensuring all compliance with company procedures and statutory obligations for vehicle operations are met on a daily basis.

Maintaning driver records and files, tranportation documents and driver hours and implementing a management strategy for both current drivers development and the recruitment of future drivers.

Resolving client issues relating to the transportation of all plant and materials daily.

Ensuring all fleet vehicles are maintained in line with Operator License requirements.

Managing site compliance and general administration duties.

Transport Manager Requirements :

Must hold transport qualifications (CPC National/International or equivalent)

Previous HGV/LGV Driving experience beneficial but not essential

Strong communication and leadership skills and the ability to multi task and balance conflicting demands

Ability to work under pressure on a daily "hot desk"

Good I.T skills inlcuding MS Word and Excel

Enthusiastic positive outlook

Full UK Driving License
