My client is a highly reputable and extremely successful industry leader, dealing with projects across various sectors; offering a full ‘one-stop shop’ experience covering D&B, Construction, Refurbishments and Asset Management services.

Right now they have an exciting opportunity with their North West team to assist the business with management of quality control activities. They’re looking to invest in an experienced Quality Control/Assurance Manager to be based out of their Salford offices; working in close liaison with the Region’s general management and the company’s other quality management teams.

The successful candidate will need to be willing to travel Nationwide, on occasion when required, to visit other operational offices of the client, subcontractor/supply chain offices etc.

 

ROLE - Key responsibilities will include:

• Support project teams by reviewing methods, details and physical works in progress at various stages of the construction cycle to ensure that the highest standard if quality is achieved in the works delivered.
• Get involved in preconstruction activities to provide the tender teams with advice on the selection of materials, supply chain partners and a review of the specifications.
• Assist the project teams in drawing up the project test and inspection plan to be implemented and monitored as the project proceeds.
• Assist the project teams in reviewing whether new, untried products and methods are appropriate from a quality, longevity and value for money perspective.
• Liaise with other regional Quality Managers to build a network of information and experiences such that the company can benefit from knowledge in the wider UK and European business.
• Liaise with the national Quality Manager / Technical Services Department on defects, new product selection and database issues.
• Prepare case studies & bulletins on regional experiences of defects resolution & new product trials.
• Be a conduit for building a database of learning from across the UK business that will allow sharing of trends and reasons for defects and improve product selection in the future.
• Provide technical on-site and off-site training to staff on construction details, methods and products on a variety of construction quality related topics.
• Liaise with the regional customer care manager and team to enable feedback into the processes and systems that will prevent repeat occurrences of defects in the future.
• Work with regional management and established preferred sub-contractors to strive for continuous improvement, including on-site performance on matters of Quality and Aftercare.
• Engage with construction site teams to review Supply Chain quality issues & assist with resolution.
• Facilitate the BIM 360 Field system to enable the quantification of supply chain defects and the monitoring of trends.
• Formal monthly reports to the regional management of North West on all Quality Control matters.
• Attend the monthly regional Customer care meeting with the directors.
• Advise the project teams on defect avoidance resources available on the company intranet

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Understands the importance of Quality work, materials & methods in today’s highly commercial & demanding environment along with thorough knowledge of the technical construction process.
  • Have the ability to articulate problems, assess the issue and generate reports.
  • Confidence to train others on quality related matters
  • Commercial awareness with experience of dealing with the supply chain at all levels.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment or as an individual
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Good time management and able to commit and work to deadlines.
  • IT Literate, with proficiency in using various IT systems, inc. MS Word & Excel. You will also be expected to use the company’s own internal Intranet and web-based systems.
  • A relevant design consultancy or construction related qualification certainly preferred
