Structural Design Engineer

This client is an extremely successful, industry leading contractor; respected in both the UK & International markets and we’re pleased to advertise this new & exciting opportunity which has arisen to join their new multi-disciplinary design team.

Based out of their Salford based offices; you’ll be required to assist the North West team in securing future D&B opportunities, primarily in the education, commercial and science sectors along with helping to grow and develop the structural team.

The ideal candidate should possess demonstrable experience in building structures, ideally across the education and commercial sectors and be able to communicate well and manage a team to deliver good quality construction information.

 

ROLE

  • Identifying/prioritising necessary structural investigations along with planning, organising, executing and reporting on investigations.
  • Production of; drawings, reports, calculations & structural specifications and meet the client brief.
  • Undertake the structural engineering design for projects, working with both the design and construction teams
  • Working closely with designers of other disciplines to produce co-ordinated designs
  • Planning and monitoring use of own time-resources on projects, other engineers and technicians.
  • Working within project teams, with responsibility for production of deliverables to agreed timelines.
  • Ability to apply relevant codes and standards to engineering principals and judgement
  • Attend project meetings & communicating with all staff, external design team members & clients.
  • Work independently; responsible for checking quality & accuracy and verifying your teams output.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to your team

 

ABOUT YOU - Requirements

  • Degree qualified and/or demonstrable experience within structural engineering.
  • Chartered status, or working towards
  • Ability to work under pressure, balance priorities, and meet strict deadlines
  • You’ll possess excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations and in writing.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence to professionally communicate to all levels of personnel.
  • Good commercial awareness and acumen.
  • An enthusiasm and technology focus with excellent technical design skills and proficiency in 3D analysis & design.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a D&B environment.
